When we have thought about a shoe care collection we have thought about the idea of eternity. All products have a beginning and an end. However, a shoe care valet made of genuine solid wood is eternal. It lasts forever if well maintained.
Its durability, the quality of raw materials used, the time invested in its production, and its origin determine the value of such a product.
Since 1962, we have adhered to the same production process. We select timbers from the coppices of the Monti Sibillini National Park or what nature provides through snow slides. We do not take from nature; we only use what nature gives us.
The journey begins at the local sawmill within the Monti Sibillini National Park in Amandola. Here, we meticulously select the best timbers and cut them according to our specific needs, respecting their natural properties. Under the guidance of our master carpenter, we select wooden planks for their thickness and length, ensuring each piece is made from a single, solid piece of wood. This adherence to tradition is challenging but necessary, as the art of woodworking is demanding, and skilled artisans are becoming rare.
The global market has opted for faster alternatives: plastic, recycled pressed wood, multi-layer pressed cardboard, and wood powder, all machine-made. These designs attract consumers’ eyes, but the value of timelessness and beauty is lost. Now, only design and colors appeal to the fast-paced consumer.
True connoisseurs take the time to study handcrafted products, seeking and choosing quality. Great things take time and last forever. Observing classic handmade Italian shoes from the 1950s and 1960s, we can confidently say: “No one in Italy, except for a discerning few, can produce such quality today.”
The world of artisans and small businesses is almost extinct, and woodworking is no exception. Carpenters today often lack the skills to work with wood from start to finish, producing only parts of an object. This fragmentation of the production process made conceiving the wooden valet a challenge.
We belong to the world of handcrafted tradition in the Marche region, where the furniture-making industry is still alive in cities like Pesaro, Fabriano, Ancona, and the small village of Treia near Macerata.
We are among the few in Italy who continue to produce these items, striving to preserve this tradition by crafting wooden shoetrees, valets, shoe horns, footstools, and shoe racks from raw timber into timeless solid wood pieces.
Our vocation stems from a love for beauty and tradition, passed down through generations from fathers to sons as an endless heritage. This is why we seek antique techniques, old traditions, and inherited knowledge that ensure durability over the years. Our treasure lies in the last coopers, luthiers, wood carvers, and picture framers. Their lives embody real history and the secrets of craftsmanship.
When we started to work on T.‘s project we made a promise: we have to defend this world and fight for its preservation, but above all be part of it with being messengers of Italian Beauty throughout the world.
Living in this land of beauty, breathing it every day, we must create beautiful items and share them with the world. Also, every piece of this valet is made in Le Marche region, even the brass hinges, even the oils, its leather handle. In its people can find the breath of an old tradition, knowledge, and craftsmanship.
But above all a timeless piece of shoe care-art that accompanies every step of life.
